We held our first cottage prayer meeting on April 2,1964 in the home of Allen Carden. That
Tuesday April 7th those families met with our District Superintendent Dr.Jerald Locke at the Blackwell 1st Church of the Nazarene,
and he supplied us our first Pastor, Reverend ML.Goins, on July 10th. Then following a tremendous revival by Reverend
Floyd Rowe from November 29th through December 6th, 22 charter members and Dr.Locke officially organized St.Luke's Church
of the Nazarene on the afternoon of December 13,1964, that evening nine people found God! For the next few years we met
at Trout School and broke ground on our first sanctuary on June 4,1967. It was dedicated on March 10,1968, and our present
sanctuary was dedicated on July of 1977 under Reverend Don Stelting.
St.Luke's is a church with a specific purpose
and direction. That purpose and direction is expressed in the following statements:
OUR MISSION: To reach un-churched,
un-saved people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and help them become disciples.
OUR VISION: To reach all of Ponca
City for Christ.
OUR STRATEGY: To provide an exciting, lively, and contemporary worship environment, focused on winning
people to Christ, where people genuinely experience God. To disciple believers through education and training. To
provide mission opportunities for service both locally and around the world.
We want to welcome you. We believe you'll
love it here and we try hard to make you feel at home. We invite you to become a part of the church today and a piece of its
history tomorrow.
